Set up a Spend Control

Spend Control is a handy tool that keeps an eye on your total spend across any extra minutes, texts, and data over and above what's included in your Pay Monthly plan (including any Add-ons you may purchase during the month).

Setting a Spend Control limit while you’re using Daily Roaming can help keep your bill in check when you're travelling. Spend Control is not available on Prepay plans.

How does Spend Control work?

As an example, let’s say you are on a $45 Pay Monthly plan. After you’ve used up all the minutes, texts, and data on your plan, you begin to pay casual rates for each of these services, or Daily Roaming rates if overseas.

Now, let’s say you set your Spend Control limit at $30. This means, once you spend $30 on these extra minutes, texts and data, Spend Control kicks in and won’t let you spend any more.

If you have an interest-free phone, the monthly repayment cost is not included in your Spend Control calculation. Spend Control only kicks in to manage the cost of any extra minutes, texts, and data you use after you’ve exhausted the limits in your Pay Monthly plan. Spend Control also works independently from your credit limit.

Once you've set it up, we'll send you a text to notify you when you are within $10 of your Spend Control limit so you can decide if you want to increase your limit.

How to set up Spend Control

It's easy to set up Spend Control via the 2degrees App or online at Your 2degrees.

Set up Spend Control in the 2degrees App

It's a breeze to get your Spend Control sorted on the app. Log in and then from the Menu, navigate to Payments and bills, then tap on Spend Control, then select 'Setup Spend Control'.

Log in to Your 2degrees and click on the Spend Control link on your dashboard. You can find this under Your Plan Details.

Or you can dial *100*5 from your phone and select option 1 to change your limit, or option 2 to override it.

We'll send you a text to notify you when you’re within $10 of your Spend Control limit so you can decide if you want to increase your limit.

If you have more than one connection, for example if you've opted for a Group plan, you can also manage the spend for each of your connections. Just make sure each connection has Spend Control set up for their phone. We'll send a text to each connection when they're within $10 of their limit. However, only you will be able to increase the limit for each connection in your Group plan.

How to change your Spend Control Limit

It's easy to check and change your Spend Control limit.

Change your Spend Control limit from the 2degrees App

Select Settings from the menu, then select Spend Control. Switch it off or on, and then input the amount you want to set as your limit.

If you have multiple connections on a Group plan, we've got that covered too. Just select the one you wish to manage and make the changes you want for that connection.

Whether you’re making a change for your own plan or for a connection in your Group plan, you’ll see a confirmation message to show we’ve received your request. Once the Spend Limit has been changed for your personal plan, we’ll send you a text confirming the change. For a group plan, we’ll send a text to each member once their Spend Limit is changed. This text usually only takes a few minutes, so don't go crazy on your usage until you receive a text saying it's up and running.

Change your Spend Control limit from Your 2degrees

From your dashboard, select the Usage tab and follow the link to Spend Control. Select the connection you wish to manage or change, or simply turn off your Spend Control.

Change your Spend Control limit from your phone

Another no-fuss way to manage your own Spend Control is by dialling *100*5*1# from your mobile. You will then receive an automatic prompt to enter the amount you wish to set your limit to. You'll then receive a text from us confirming that you've successfully changed your Spend Control limit. To change the Spend Limit for a Group Plan connection, you must use the 2degrees App or online at Your 2degrees.
